Late Rupert Gush

Hi all ,

It is with sadness that I pass on the news that Rupert Gush has passed away.

Although Rupert was not a staunch Masters player, only having playing a few times in the early days, those who knew him will remember that he was a true Scholar and Gentleman, and contributed hugely to all aspects of sport.

If I remember correctly, he was the Founder of Florida Water Polo, and also an Old Eds rugby player and administrator.

I am sure he will be keenly missed and pass on to his Family the deepest condolences of the whole Gauteng Masters polo fraternity.

Regards,

Neville Clarence
Chairman SA Masters Waterpolo

Late Eddie Tinker

It is with sad news that we learnt of the passing of Eddie Tinker from Easterns after a growth was removed. Eddie was a stalwart of Easterns and many of the older players will remember their tussles during Currie Cup and other tournaments.

Eddie was a larger than life character and even won Spirit of Masters.

RIP old mate.

Late Trevor Vaughn

Some bad news. Trevor Vaughn died 28 December 2015 of a massive heart attack after a Surf-Ski race in St Francis.

We will all miss that smile and laugh around the pool.

On behalf of all SA Masters players, we express our deepest sympathies to Trevor’s family.

RIP

Late James Pillan

Just got an SMS from Dudley Prentice advising that James passed away last night (25 September 2015)  at 10pm.
James was a stalwart of Eastern Transvaal / Eastern Gauteng and played many games for them at Provincial level. He was a tough enforcer and many players will recall their encounters with him.
Our thought and prayers are with Ann and her children.

Hi all ,

Sad news  !

James was a regular at Masters with Easterns before a work accident some years ago left him unable to play again – a gentle giant and a gentleman to boot

Ian , please pass on the condolences of all Masters players countrywide , who  knew and played with or against James , to his  family and friends.

Regards , Neville.
