Hi Ian

We actually had a masters meeting last night. I have been awaiting the council to confirm dates, which has now been finalised. So yes the dates are the 12 – 14 March 2015, some games will commence on the Wed (11th) evening maybe 4/5 games as most of the teams will already be here, last games to finish on the Saturday afternoon.

I will send out a more formal invite this week to all representatives, but if we could post it on the site for now that would be great.

Thanks

Donn

Hi Brett,

We are having our own annual tournament in October please find all details here:

http://www.herbert-esters-turnier.de/home.html
Would be great if you could also spread it in SA to see if someone is keen to come.

Thanks!

Cheers

Frank

PS: Just to add that the 250 Euro fee is quite high but you get 150 Euro back in drinks vouchers so is not that bad:)

Anthony Browne

Death notice in Star – 9 July 2014 — Browne- Anthony Steven.

It looks like our Anthony — he was at the first Quarry tournament and left early saying he was not feeling too well and it turned out to be stomach cancer . If so ,then we have lost another Jeppe Polo player– Bryan would have been the first to advise everyone. He did speak to Bryan some months ago when he and I were arranging the sides for the Durbs tournament and Anthony said he would be available. I will phone Tony C as I do not have his address.
May he rest in peace and say a silent prayer! !!

Bryan Priestman

It is with great sadness that we were informed of the passing away of Bryan Priestman.
Recently Bryan was playing for the Jolly Roger Old Dodgers in the older league at Masters and his contributions to the team will be sorely missed.
Details are sketchy at the moment and once more information is available, the details will be communicated.
Our thoughts and prayers go out the family and friends.
May Bryan rest in peace.

Feedback to Provinces

Please advise all the Reps of the following :

After various responses received from Provincial Reps , the following is the consensus :

That the issue of entries , age limits etc will remain as is , except for the introduction of a new rule regarding ex National players , and that is that they may play in their own age group or down , but not up

This whole issue of entries and limitations will be added to the Agenda for the next AGM for further debate and decisions

ex-National Players

Introduction of a new rule requiring approval:
The issue of ex National players playing below their age groups.

This problem was brought to the attention of the Executive during the 2014 Tournament.

The suggested proposal for consideration is that ex-National players, in any age group, should not be allowed to play in a division above their age.

E.g. Glenwood had three ex Boks in their early 30’s playing in the 35+ group. This is not fair on players at the end of the age group, i.e. 45 year olds.

Thus if you are an ex-National player, then you will ONLY be permitted to play in your age bracket or below BUT never up!

Should ex-National players be limited to playing in their age division?
Yes: 4
No: 3

New dates for Durban 2015

The 2015/2016 Durban Organising Committee have discussed the possibility of moving Masters one (1) week back (earlier), the weekend before the long weekend.

The reasons why they are suggesting this is the following:

  • Flights and accommodation in Durban will be cheaper over a normal weekend,
  • There will be rugby on in Durban,
  • It won’t clash with SA Lifesaving which is in Durban (accommodation issues here again)
  • Gives the players the chance of spending the long weekend with family?

What are your thoughts here?

Is your province in favour of moving the date one week earlier?

Yes: 6
No: 0

Thank you from the 2014 Cape Town Organising Committee

Hi Guys

This is just a formal “Thank You” from the entire organising committee from 2014. We as organisers think this year was 100% better organised than 2013 and coupled with the changes made to the venue made this year the best.

The photos on Facebook http://www.facebook.com/CapeTownWaterpoloMasters have shown how many of us use this to gather and send into. The groups of photos received between 2,500 and 18,000 hits – none of this paid for, all viral.

The web page that had all the fixtures/ results / logs www.mycomlinc.co.za got on average unique 2500 hits a day for about 10 days (before and after). This page was great for friends and family to keep up to date with what your were up to in the pool.

Some of the Highlights from mails I have received were (in no particular order):

  • The Band on the Friday night – who were paid extra to stay longer as the demand just kept coming – they also had good things to say about you.
  • The number of games played in the 25+, 35+ and 55+, to play 9 pool games and then a final was just fantastic
  • The Where Eddy Teams – were an absolute win and the comments have overflowed
  • The Weather – booked this last year and it worked
  • The Braai on the Friday night – some serious kilo’s put on…
  • The registration process – set the tone for the professional way that things ran thereafter
  • The 40 min’s per game slot – 99% of people preferred this as it meant there was not pressure to start and finish each game – set the whole tone for the Tournament
  • Players not having to ref – yes there were still complaints about the refs, but there are at the Olympics too, so am not sure if this is the refs or the players???
  • Food Vendors – This as different approach and it made the event more of a carnival and not a tournament

So please pass this on to all your players. The attached stats are not 100% correct as Thursday’s info was only based on goals and exclusions. Where it is completely wrong – that is usually because cap numbers were not correct OR the person changed caps OR the keeper is listed as a “player” in the program. If is however a bit of fun and can help with any delayed fines meetings.

Download the 2014 SAMWP Stats

I would like to send out a survey that will be specific to each age group. The idea being to get a more focused response and to pass that info onto the Durban Committee.

To Durban, we wish you well for 2015 & 16, we pass you on a baby that was lovingly produced and nurtured and although demanding at times, like all kids is hugely rewarding. Treat it well and make it growJ

So from the entire organising committee, Good Night and Good Luck….
